Live Transcription
Transcribe speech in real time from your microphone with optional translation, then finish with a processed session.
Usage
Use Live Transcription when you want to see text appear while someone is speaking instead of waiting for a full upload or recording to finish.
This workflow is useful for live notes, short meetings, classes, rehearsals, and interviews where immediate visibility matters.
Before you start
Your browser must support `MediaRecorder` and microphone capture.
Live transcription currently expects a minimum available duration quota before start. The current frontend default gate is 15 minutes.
Translation is optional. If enabled, you will see translated text alongside the live transcript where supported.
Keep a stable network connection during the session because live capture streams data continuously.
Step-by-step instructions
Open Live Transcription
Choose Live Transcription from the dashboard or transcription tabs.
Choose the spoken language
Pick the language if you know it, or rely on the available configuration defaults. Turn on translation only when you need it.
Allow microphone access
Grant the browser microphone permission so VoxStudio can start the live stream.
Start live capture
The panel shows the live waveform and incoming text while the session is active.
Monitor the running session
Keep an eye on the remaining time notice and the transcript buffer while the session is in progress.
Stop to finalize
When you stop the live session, VoxStudio closes the stream and moves the session into the processing stage to refine and save the final transcript.
Tips and examples
Use a close microphone in a quieter room for better live quality.
If you expect strong accents or domain-specific terms, choose the correct language up front when possible.
Live Transcription is for active speech capture. For a finished media file, Upload File usually gives a calmer review flow.
Common problems and fixes
Why is Live Transcription unavailable in my browser?
The browser may not support the required recording APIs or may have blocked microphone access. Try a current Chromium-based browser or Safari with microphone permission enabled.
Why does the session stop early?
Quota limits, browser permission loss, device changes, or connection interruptions can stop a live session.
Why is there a delay between speech and text?
A short delay is normal in streaming transcription. Larger delays usually point to network quality or overloaded input devices.
Why is the final transcript different from the live preview?
The final saved transcript may be refined after the streaming session stops, so punctuation and wording can improve slightly in the processed result.

Can I capture system audio in Live Transcription?
This live panel is primarily geared toward microphone capture. For richer multi-source capture, use the Record workflow.
Can I translate while speaking?
Yes, when translation is enabled and supported for the selected target language.
Where is the finished session stored?
When you stop the stream, VoxStudio keeps the session in your workspace and moves it into processing so you can reopen it later.
Should I use Live or Meet Bot for a meeting?
Use Live when you are personally capturing speech from your device. Use Meet Bot when VoxStudio should join the meeting as a participant.
