Record

Capture screen, camera, microphone, or system audio in the browser and send the result directly into transcription.

Usage

Use Record when you want to capture first-party content inside the browser instead of uploading an existing file.

This workflow fits demos, tutorials, interviews, explainers, reactions, and quick voice notes with optional video.

Before you start

Recording requires at least one audio source. You must enable microphone audio, system audio, or both before starting.

Your browser must allow access to the selected microphone, camera, and screen share source.

System audio availability depends on browser and platform behavior. Some combinations only support screen audio when sharing a tab or full screen.

If your plan balance is too low, VoxStudio will block recording before it starts.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Open the Record workflow

Choose Record from the dashboard or transcription tab.

  2. Pick audio and video sources

Enable microphone, system audio, screen capture, camera capture, or a combination that matches your use case.

  3. Review language and translation options

If shown, choose the spoken language or keep auto detection. Enable translation only when you need a translated output later.

  4. Grant browser permissions

Approve the browser prompts for microphone, camera, and screen sharing. If permission is denied, the recording cannot start.

  5. Record your content

VoxStudio shows the active recording panel while capture is running. Keep the browser tab open until you stop the recording.

  6. Stop and process

When you stop the capture, VoxStudio creates a session and moves the result into the transcription pipeline without a separate manual upload.

Tips and examples

Test permissions and source selections with a short clip before recording a long session.

If you only need audio, turn off camera and screen capture to keep the source lighter and simpler.

For screen walkthroughs, wear headphones when possible to reduce echo if microphone and system audio are both enabled.

Common problems and fixes

Why can’t I start recording?

The most common cause is missing audio input. Recording requires microphone audio, system audio, or both. Permission denials and quota limits can also block the start action.

Why is the camera or microphone missing from the device list?

The browser may not have permission yet, or the device is unavailable. Refresh device permissions, reconnect the device, and reopen the dialog.

Why is there no system audio in the result?

System audio support depends on the browser and how the screen share was granted. Recheck the browser share prompt and confirm audio sharing was included.

Why did processing fail after I stopped recording?

The recording may be damaged, incomplete, or blocked by a temporary media error. Retry a short test recording first. If the failure repeats, report the issue with the failed session.

FAQ

Can I record microphone only?

Yes. Microphone-only capture is supported and is the simplest setup for voice notes or narration.

Can I record camera and screen together?

Yes. VoxStudio supports combinations of screen, camera, microphone, and optional system audio depending on the browser capability check.

Do I need to upload the recording afterward?

No. Once you stop recording, VoxStudio creates the session and starts the next processing stages automatically.

Can I leave the page during recording?

Keep the recording page open until capture is finished. Closing the tab or interrupting browser permission can end the session unexpectedly.
