Upload File
Upload local audio or video, let VoxStudio validate the media, and move directly into transcript editing.
Usage
Use Upload File when the media already exists on your device and you want the fastest path into transcription, translation, and editing.
This workflow is best for podcasts, interviews, lectures, webinars, local video exports, and any source you can save before processing.
Before you start
VoxStudio accepts common audio and video formats. The frontend currently allows `.mp3`, `.wav`, `.m4a`, `.aac`, `.ogg`, `.flac`, `.wma`, `.aiff`, `.ape`, `.mp4`, `.mov`, `.webm`, `.mkv`, and `.m4v`.
Standard uploads are limited to 200MB. WAV files can be larger because they are uncompressed, up to 1GB.
The file must contain an audio track. Video-only files and silent media are rejected because there is nothing to transcribe.
If the browser cannot trust the MIME type, VoxStudio performs a stronger media check before upload and may still reject the file if it cannot verify audio.
Step-by-step instructions
Open Transcription and choose Upload File
Go to Workbench, open Transcription, and choose Upload File from the dashboard card or the transcription tabs.
Select your media
Drag and drop a file or click the picker. VoxStudio checks file size, extension, and whether the file contains an audio track before continuing.
Choose processing options
If options are shown, confirm the spoken language or keep auto detection. You can later translate or export once the transcript is ready.
Wait for upload and processing
After upload finishes, VoxStudio sends the file through preprocessing and then into transcription. Video uploads may take longer because the system may need to convert the media first.
Review the session in the workbench
When processing is complete, open the session to read the transcript, edit text, translate, generate summaries, and export available outputs.
Tips and examples
If a source link fails, download the media first and use Upload File instead of Net Video.
Trim extremely long raw recordings before upload if you only need a short section. This shortens wait time and reduces usage.
If your video contains multiple audio layers, confirm the exported file actually includes the speech track before uploading.
Common problems and fixes
Why was my file rejected as unsupported?
The extension, MIME type, or media inspection did not match a supported audio or video file. Re-export to a common format such as MP3, WAV, M4A, MP4, or MOV, then try again.
Why does VoxStudio say the file has no usable audio?
The video may not contain an audio track, or the audio stream could be damaged. Open the file locally and confirm you can hear speech before uploading again.
Why is WAV allowed up to 1GB while other files are not?
WAV is uncompressed and much larger for the same content. VoxStudio allows a larger WAV limit, but processing and upload time can still be longer.
Why is the session stuck after upload?
Large files, video conversion, or temporary queue pressure can delay the next stage. Refresh the wait page first. If the same session stays stuck for several minutes, report the issue with the session ID.
FAQ
Can I upload video, not just audio?
Yes. Upload File accepts common video containers as long as the file includes an audio track.
Do I need to split long files before uploading?
Not always. VoxStudio can process long recordings, but splitting a very large source can make retries and quality checks easier.
Can I upload a ZIP file of recordings here?
Not in the transcription upload flow. Upload the actual media file you want transcribed.
Where do I find the result?
Open Recent or return to the session once processing finishes. The session opens in the workbench with transcript, summary, subtitles, and other tabs as they become available.
